What types of gifts can you leave?

We can receive many different types of gifts in people’s Wills, and we are very grateful for every single one.

The following are a few types of gifts you can leave in your Will:

  • A share of your estate. After you’ve provided for your family and friends, you can leave a share, or the remainder, of your estate to us. This is called a ‘residuary gift’.
  • Cash gift. This is when you leave an exact sum of money to us. It’s known as a ‘pecuniary gift’.
  • A specific gift. This could be any item of value e.g  antique jewelery, paintings.
  • A gift in trust. You can leave a gift for someone to use over a period of time. When the time has ended, the gift can be passed on to other recipients, such as a charity.

It is a common misconception that only wealthy people leave money to charity in their Will. The reality is that most bequests are made by ordinary, hardworking people who want to make a positive difference to their community.

The good news is that including a charity in your Will can be as much or as little as you want. In fact if the percentage of Australians making a bequest were to increase by just 14%, an additional $440 million would be created for charities in Australia every year to help them continue their amazing work.

Please help us bring forward the day when all lymphomas are cured and all patients receive the support they deserve in their lymphoma journey.
