Tahnee's Cartwheel Record
On World Lymphoma Awareness Day - 15 September - Tahnee and her sister Kiri are undertaking a record-breaking challenge!
As former Moulin Rouge dancers, they will be cartwheeling the length of the Champs-Élysées (1.9km) to raise awarenss for lymphoma - Australia's number one blood cancer. This will not be easy!!
Tahnee was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in March this year, and has recently completed treatment. With the support from her Tahnee's Army support crew, they aim to raise funds for Lymphoma Australia to support patients.
This is especially important during this time as due to COVID restrictions, many patients across Australia are on their own receiving treatment. We don't want anyone to be alone on this journey.
"This won't be easy. Nothing AMAZING ever is. When Dad broke his world record, and then while training to break an even bigger one had passed away, we have talked about doing something since then, so literally for 20 years. Our brother too.
So to FINALLY not just TALK about it and actually DO something, well, it’s pretty exciting to say the least. (And scary)
And to see the LOVE and SUPPORT come our way, is nothing short of inspiring.
Again, it’s the people, the help, the meetings, the planning, the JOURNEY leading up to the event that is where the real magic happens.
So thank you to everyone for the beautiful messages, support and help we have received to bring this dream alive!" Kiri Lainela
The Cartwheel record attempt is taking place at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on Tuesday 15th September from 9.30am-1.30pm.
Due to current COVID limitations on crowd numbers this will be a registration only event - however we will stream LIVE to Facebook and have video updates later in the day. Follow our pages to stay up to date!
