Welcome to our new Ambassador – Rebecca Cole

Rebecca Cole, WNBL player for the Southside Flyers and World Champion 3×3 player for Australia, has today been announced as the Ambassador for Lymphoma Australia.

Rebecca has personally felt the effects of the disease through her father Gary’s journey and considers the support of Lymphoma Australia crucial to the well-being of patients and their families.

“After the shock of the diagnosis, having someone there who can help educate you about the disease and how to help makes all the difference.  It’s comforting to know you’re not alone, and it gives us all confidence in knowing there are options when it comes to fighting this cancer.” – Rebecca Cole

Rebecca will be representing Lymphoma Australia during September’s Lymphoma Awareness Month, donning Lime and leading awareness and advocacy campaigns to support the work of Lymphoma Australia as they in turn support those diagnosed with lymphoma, their families and their carers.

We are thrilled to welcome Rebecca Cole to our organisation.

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system and occurs when there is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal lymphocytes in our white blood cells (immune system).

More than 6,400 Australians will be diagnosed with lymphoma this year making lymphoma the sixth most common cancer in Australia. Lymphoma is also the number one cancer in the 15-29 year-old age group and the 3rd most common cancer in children.

Media enquiries can be made to Sharon Winton, CEO Lymphoma Australia, and Rebecca Cole through Young Wolf Management.

You need healthy T-cells to make CAR T-cells. For this reason, CAR T-cell therapy cannot be used if you have a T-cell lymphoma – yet.

Special Note: Although your T-cells are removed from your blood for CAR T-cell therapy, most of our T-cells live outside of our blood – in our lymph nodes, thymus, spleen and other organs.
