Registrations are now open for Legs Out for Lymphoma 2023! 🏃

We are excited to bring you Legs Out for Lymphoma 2023!

Join us this March and use your Legs for Good!

Sign up to Legs Out for Lymphoma to create a physical challenge for the month of March and get sponsored.

You can take part as an individual or create a team with family, friends, your school or co-workers. Choose your own legs out challenge: run, walk, row, cycle – your activity can be unique to you.

You could walk or run 5km in one go, challenge yourself to a full marathon, participate in a triathlon, set a company goal to race up 1,000 sets of stairs, or do laps in your backyard or on the hospital ward. It is up to you!

Legs Out is a great way to have fun, smash some fitness goals and support patients and their families across Australia living with lymphoma.

Why not set a Legs Out Challenge as part of your New Year’s resolution?

Community walks are BACK

We are also thrilled to announce that we will be holding community Legs Out for Lymphoma walks in Melbourne and the Gold Coast to bring our community together!

In 2023 we are hosting two in-person events to bring our community together.  Come and join us to meet other Legs Out champions!

The events will be held on:

  • Gold Coast – Sunday 19 March, 3.00pm start, Broadbeach SLSC
  • Melbourne – Saturday 29 April, 2.00pm start, The Tan Track

More details on the in-person events will be released in the New Year but you can register now!

Useful Definitions

  • Refractory: This means the lymphoma does not get better with treatment. The treatment didn’t work as hoped.
  • Relapsed: This means the lymphoma came back after being gone for a while after treatment.
  • 2nd line treatment: This is the second treatment you get if the first one didn’t work (refractory) or if the lymphoma comes back (relapse).
  • 3rd line treatment: This is the third treatment you get if the second one didn’t work or the lymphoma comes back again.
  • Approved: Available in Australia and listed by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
  • Funded: Costs are covered for Australian citizens. This means if you have a Medicare card, you shouldn’t have to pay for the treatment.[WO7]

You need healthy T-cells to make CAR T-cells. For this reason, CAR T-cell therapy cannot be used if you have a T-cell lymphoma – yet.

For more information on CAR T-cells and T-cell lymphoma click here.

Special Note: Although your T-cells are removed from your blood for CAR T-cell therapy, most of our T-cells live outside of our blood – in our lymph nodes, thymus, spleen and other organs.
