Vale: Gordon Shaw

It is with great sadness that Lymphoma Australia acknowledges the passing of our much-loved Board member and dear friend, Gordon Shaw.

Gordon joined the Lymphoma Australia Board more than 15 years ago, following the heartbreaking loss of his beautiful wife to lymphoma. From this deeply personal experience came an extraordinary commitment to helping others affected by the disease and ensuring that patients and their families had access to the information, care and support they needed.

Gordon was a kind, passionate and incredibly warm person who brought so much more than his knowledge and experience to Lymphoma Australia. He brought compassion, generosity, friendship and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Over more than 15 years, Gordon became an important part of the Lymphoma Australia family. His wisdom, warmth and unwavering support were felt not only around the Board table but throughout our organisation and the broader lymphoma community.

Having experienced the devastating impact of lymphoma on his own family, Gordon understood the importance of ensuring that no one faced this disease alone. He turned his own personal loss into a lasting commitment to helping others, and that is a legacy we will always treasure.

We are incredibly grateful for Gordon’s friendship, dedication and the many years he gave so generously to Lymphoma Australia. His contribution helped shape the organisation we are today, and his kindness and wonderful spirit will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the Lymphoma Australia Board, staff and the entire lymphoma community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Gordon’s family and loved ones.

Thank you, Gordon, for turning your personal loss into hope and support for so many others. You made a difference, and you will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, dear Gordon.

You need healthy T-cells to make CAR T-cells. For this reason, CAR T-cell therapy cannot be used if you have a T-cell lymphoma – yet.

Special Note: Although your T-cells are removed from your blood for CAR T-cell therapy, most of our T-cells live outside of our blood – in our lymph nodes, thymus, spleen and other organs.
