Patient Webinar- Supporting Families P1 ‘Working & Lymphoma’

This is part one of a three part mini-series aimed to help support families through a lymphoma diagnosis.

This webinar will be presented by Occupational Therapists from Selsus Andrew Smith, Vicki Ruskin and Dr Amy Wallis.

Mr Andrew Smith has worked as an Occupational Therapist in the cancer sector for the past 19 years. His clinical career has included senior roles in the acute, primary care and not‐for‐profit cancer sectors, alongside work in program development, research, quality, experience, leadership, and innovation. He has worked in some of the country’s leading cancer organisations including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre, Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre, Victorian/Tasmanian Youth Cancer Service, Leukaemia Foundation of Australia. and Breast Cancer Network AustraliaHe has published in peer reviewed journals on the topics of Occupational Therapy in Cancer, Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivorship, Psycho‐Oncology and Cancer Survivorship. His interest areas are helping people live their best lives with and beyond cancer, blood cancer, breast cancer, youth cancer, cancer related fatigue and cancer and employment.

Mrs Vicki Ruskin has worked within the rehabilitation sector for over 30 years, as both a clinician and as a manger of rehabilitation services. Her clinical experience has included working with people with a broad range of acute and chronic conditions including, spinal, neurological, mental health, neurogenerative, musculo-skeletal and oncology. Vicki has worked for the past 15 years in oncology, delivering a broad range of services to people and families impacted by cancer, helping them to manage treatment and side effects and assisting them to re-engage with life and work. Recently Vicki completed her Masters Cancer Science and her research focus in particular was within her area of interest, fatigue management. Vicki is also a wellness coach, and she incorporates wellness coaching in her clinical work within oncology.

Dr Amy Wallis is an occupational therapist with extensive experience as a clinician and academic spanning over nineteen years. Amy has worked in both the private and corporate sectors, and tertiary education settings in the areas of chronic conditions management, pain management, rehabilitation, and neuromuscular conditions. She currently works as a university academic teaching and researching in occupational therapy in Western Australia. Amy’s research interests include qualitative methodology, occupational therapy in cancer care, survivorship care and return to work for people living with cancer. Amy is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. Amy has also completed her PhD exploring the adolescent and young adult’s experience of living with cancer, from an occupational perspective.
