Community Events

Whether you run, ride, walk or swim. Whether you live in the big smoke, a small city or a quiet country town – major fundraising events in your local community area are a fun way to help us raise awareness and support for Lymphoma. Get your legs out for lymphoma!

Take part in an event for Lymphoma Australia

Every year across Australia there are hundreds of marathons, obstacle events, swims and cycle events organised locally. You can compete in these events and fundraise for Lymphoma Australia. Go lime for lymphoma!
Compete on your own or as a team and get your community to support your fundraising efforts.

You can be proud of the difference you are making to people with lymphoma and that your efforts will be supporting lymphoma care nurses across Australia.

To find an event near you, visit My Cause or Go Fundraise for a list of major events in your city. Once you have registered, choose Lymphoma Australia as your preferred charity.

We are here to help you! Once you have registered, get in touch and we can help you with promoting your challenge, provide merchandise to wear, or offer fundraising support. Email fundraise@lymphoma.org.au or phone 1800 359 081.

  • Refractory: This means the lymphoma does not get better with treatment. The treatment didn’t work as hoped.
  • Relapsed: This means the lymphoma came back after being gone for a while after treatment.
  • 2nd line treatment: This is the second treatment you get if the first one didn’t work (refractory) or if the lymphoma comes back (relapse).
  • 3rd line treatment: This is the third treatment you get if the second one didn’t work or the lymphoma comes back again.
  • Approved: Available in Australia and listed by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
  • Funded: Costs are covered for Australian citizens. This means if you have a Medicare card, you shouldn’t have to pay for the treatment.[WO7]

You need healthy T-cells to make CAR T-cells. For this reason, CAR T-cell therapy cannot be used if you have a T-cell lymphoma – yet.

For more information on CAR T-cells and T-cell lymphoma click here.

Special Note: Although your T-cells are removed from your blood for CAR T-cell therapy, most of our T-cells live outside of our blood – in our lymph nodes, thymus, spleen and other organs.
