“Damien has been a fire fighter for 32 years. He has dedicated his life to looking after others. Damien before diagnosis started with a feeling of fullness in his abdomen. He went to the doctor in late September 2020 and the results showed he had 2 tumors the size of cricket balls in his abdomen. They couldn’t be surgically removed because of where they were joined so he started treatment immediately.
“It was very hard for Damien to no longer be in uniform and now on the other side of the bed as a patient. We wanted to raise awareness that this particular cancer is becoming more prevalent.
“We reached out to our loved ones and our work community to start fundraising. On Saturday 13 March 2021 we participated in Legs Out for Damo. Our friends & family backed us with donations & ordering shirts!
We set up marquees on the day. We had my fire crew come with the truck for the little & not so little kids (adults) 
it truly was a day filled with so much love and support. Our son-in-law was on the bbq catering for anyone who joined in wearing his fabulous apron!

“We never thought we’d both be on similar treatments fighting 2 incurable diseases but we’re an amazing team together and will continue to give back what we can and pay it forward. We are immensely grateful for those who love us and came out to support or donated to this much-needed cause.”
Congratulations to the Legs Out for Damo team who on Saturday 13th March ran a collective 124km’s and raised nearly $3,500.
